DIY Dessert Time With Chef'd

Check out what happens when this amateur baker gets cooking

Get fancy in the kitchen with a little help from the pros.

Chef’d is at it again with their new dessert boxes in partnership with The Hershey Company. They have 15 menu options to choose from, and you can order them stand-alone, or alongside your Chef’d meal box for as little as $2-$4 per serving.

It’s the time of year for apples, and this was a festive choice. It not only looked impressive, but the taste was on par. My favorite feature of the dessert kit was that all of the ingredients were simply labeled and the directions were easy to follow. Although I bake a lot, it’s nice when things are simple and you can complete the recipe quickly with less headache. This apple cake was incredible. I did not have a cast iron pan, so my experience will be slightly different.

I’ve been trying to cut back on white flour, so this dessert was right up my alley. Whole grain seekers will appreciate the oats and whole wheat flour used in these delectable bars, and chocolate aficionados will love the big chunks of Scharffen Berger Semi-Sweet Chocolate. Prep is simple, clean-up is a breeze and the results were delicious.

This was the favorite of the three recipes by far. This is another dessert for flour-conscious people, since this cake is made by grinding walnuts in a food processor to make fine flour. It creates this light a fluffy cake that pairs great with the included raspberry sauce and fresh strawberries. The hard part about this recipe was whisking the egg whites by hand, which I never like doing. If I were to make this again, I would definitely use a mixer.
