Sandwiches with oil of of 04-05-2012 [Updated on 12-09-2017]
The extra virgin olive oil sandwiches were a very successful experiment the other afternoon, I tried a recipe that I had written down a while ago and I got soft sandwiches with a truly exceptional flavor and aroma. Making bread at home is one of the things I like to do the most, kneading, seeing the loaf rise and then smell it when it is cooking is a fantastic thing and then the taste ... mmm !!! To prepare these sandwiches I used an extra virgin olive oil dop from Tuscany, the santolivo oil, an oil with a spicy aftertaste that they sent me for a taste and gave an extra touch to my homemade bread;) This week I have been very busy posting new recipes, I have prepared several dinners in the past weeks and I have a big load of recipes for next week too, I just have to decide where to start;) I wish you a happy weekend and we read Monday for the usual sweet, which this week will be the birthday cake I made for my mom :)
How to make oil sandwiches
Melt the yeast in a bowl with just lukewarm water, add half the flour and start kneading
add 50 ml of extra virgin olive oil and salt and continue to knead
Add the remaining flour, transfer the dough onto a floured pastry board and work vigorously until a soft and elastic dough is obtained
Make a ball with the dough, put it in a bowl and let it rise for 2 hours in the oven off
Now take the dough and divide it into 8 equal parts.
roll out each piece of dough giving it the shape of a small rectangle and sprinkle it with a drizzle of oil
Roll each rectangle on itself from the shorter side then place the oil rolls on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper and let it rise for another hour.
Preheat the oven to 190 degrees then put the sandwiches in the oven and bake them for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve the oil sandwiches hot or keep them in a cloth bag, they keep soft for a couple of days
