Browsing various foreign sites, I stumbled upon a video to make cookies with an enveloping red vortex inside and sugar sprinkles outside for coverage. I got enlightened and couldn't resist reproducing these cookies which are perfect for celebrating Carnival.

How to make swivel cookies
Work the sugar with the butter into small pieces.
Then add the egg and vanilla essence and continue to mix.
Then add the flour and continue to knead until you get a homogeneous dough.
When the dough is compact, divide it into two parts.
In one of these, add the red food coloring and work to make it a uniform color.
At this point, roll out both doughs directly on parchment paper, forming rectangles.
Overlap them then putting the red layer on the white one, matching the edges. Then cut out the excess dough.
Roll up the two layers thus forming a cylinder and cover the roll obtained with the sugar sprinkles.
Wrap the roll with parchment paper and let it rest for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
Once taken, unwrap it and cut it into slices of about 1.5 centimeters.
Transfer the slices to a baking tray covered with parchment paper and bake in the oven at 180 ° C for 15 minutes.
Your swivel biscuits are ready to be brought to the table.
