I'm not a freak lover, but this cottage with potato and mozzarella puff pastry is really yummy. Lately I've been preparing a lot of rustics and using puff pastry for my countless quick dinners. You can use this filling with puff pastry, shortcrust pastry or pizza dough, the result will still be very good and if you don't like frankfurters, you can replace them with a thick slice of cooked ham.
How to make the rustic with wurstel potatoes and mozzarella
Boil the potatoes in abundant salted water, peel them and cut them into slices about 3 mm high. Cut each sausage into 4 parts lengthwise; let the mozzarella drain and cut it into thin slices.
Roll out the puff pastry on a layer of parchment paper and place a layer of sliced potatoes in the center of the puff pastry
Cover the potatoes with a layer of sausage and a layer of mozzarella.
Then repeat the layers alternating them as above; season with salt and pepper
Close the strudel tightly with würstel potatoes and mozzarella and seal the edges well.
Brush the puff pastry with a beaten egg or a little milk and bake at 180 ° C.
Cook the rustic würstel potatoes and mozzarella for about 30 minutes.
Let the rustic sausage and potatoes cool before cutting into slices and serving.
