  • they have a smaller amount of salt
  • do not contain flavor enhancers (sodium monoglutamate), acidity correctors, dyes, dextrose or other chemicals (these ingredients are found on some, not all, commercially available chips)
  • they are baked, so they are not fried in an oil bath, but are baked in the oven with only 1 tablespoon of oil, which according to preferences can be excluded from the list of ingredients (they can also be made without oil if you do not want to add it)
  • much fewer calories because they are not fried in oil

Potatoes are one of those staple foods that anyone should have at home. From now on, whenever you feel like nibbling, remember that you can make crispy chips from baked potatoes. That you just won't go to the store to keep shopping, when you can do it at home, right? All you need are potatoes and some spices to taste. Either you simply season them with salt or you can make a mix of spices: salt, paprika, garlic powder, herbs.

To serve the chips, we also made two sauces: with Greek yogurt and garlic and a tomato sauce with garlic and dried basil. Both fit perfectly. According to your preferences, you can use any other sauce: guacamole, salsa, pesto, cheese sauce, etc.

We take our bowl of potato chips, choose a good movie and nibble with gusto.

4-5 large potatoes

Peel the potatoes, wash them, then cut them into thin slices with a mandolin. If you don't have a mandolin, cut the potatoes into thin slices with a knife.

After cutting the potatoes, put them in a bowl with cold water and leave them in the bowl for 30 minutes. During this time the potatoes will remove the starch, and this helps the chips to be crispier.

After 30 minutes, squeeze the water from the bowl and place the potato slices on a clean towel and line them with kitchen towels. Repeat the operation until you finish all the potato slices in the bowl.

Put them back in the bowl, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil, spices to taste and mix well by hand.

On a large tray covered with baking sheet and greased with a little olive oil, add the sliced ​​potatoes in rows, then put the tray in the preheated oven at 180 ° C for 30-35 minutes.

If you use 4-5 potatoes, know that the chips will not fit on a single tray, so use 2 trays or wait for the first tray to be ready and repeat the operation.

Every 10 minutes, turn the chips in the pan to brown evenly.

Be careful not to burn yourself! Keep an eye on chips!

After they have browned, let them cool for 5-10 minutes, then serve with pleasure, plain or with your favorite sauces.
